Creative! Papuan Students Assisted by BIN R&D Develop Their Own Gadgets and Laptops

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Young people in Papua who are members of the Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) will soon launch the first smartphone and laptop brand in Papua with the name TOP.ID.

Head of the Research and Development Center (Kapuslitbang) of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Dr. Armi Susandi said that students from SMK Negeri 3 Jayapura, Papua who were members of PYCH under the guidance of the BIN Research and Development Center had succeeded in developing operating systems and smartphones.

“This development is carried out with the aim of developing the spirit of innovation and creativity of young Papuans, especially in the field of information technology,” said Armi.

Armi revealed that this gadget with the TOP.ID brand will be officially launched at the inauguration of PYCH, March 21 2023 by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo together with the Head of BIN Budi Gunawan. TOP.ID itself is an abbreviation for Torang Papua Indonesia.

“The operating system developed by vocational school students in Papua is designed to have a high security system for personal data and of course has advanced features that can make it easier to use smartphone and laptop gadgets,” he explained.

Apart from that, continued Armi, this operating system also has an attractive appearance and is easy to use.

“The success of developing this operating system is proof that the sons and daughters of Papua have great potential in the field of technology and can produce innovations that can compete with products from other countries,” he said.

President Joko Widodo inaugurated the start of construction of the Papua Youth Creative Hub Building with a budget of IDR 95 billion. The hope is that this building can develop the talents of young people in Papua in science, arts, culture and sports.
